COURSE OF MARBLE
Our center of sculptural activity consists of work yards, enclosed rooms for manual activity, (modeling, refinishing, drawing…..) or for tool storage and finished or half-finished works, sleeping accommodations, recreation and cooking areas. One is given the possibility, in short, to "work" and live at the same site, with the privilege to carry out his/her artistic activity manually until late hours, (outside of normal working hours), therefore guaranteeing respectful tranquility for each resident and a pleasurable environment, while satisfying one's own need to interact and intervene on works in progress. (Anticipated hours, with mechanical tools from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. till 12.00 p.m.. In observance of silence Saturday afternoon, Sunday, holidays, during hours of available light).

Purpose of courses
Purpose of courses The learning, during a stay of intensive work, technical sculptural workmanship, and the acquisition of a rational system of working in approaching both material and form. (in marble, wood, clay, or other). They are conducted through a direct interpersonal relationship "teacher-student", in small groups of students of various ages, nationality, preparation level

Period
The courses are intended as "training courses", but they can also be considered as an "alternative vacations". In fact, Carrara's geographic position allows one to easily reach the main cities of art such as Florence, Siena, Pisa, Cinqueterre or others by car or trein.
Each single course is articulated into periods of two weeks. All courses begin on Monday and last for two weeks.
Arrival is scheduled for the Sunday preceding the beginning of the course.
Accommodations should be vacated before 10:00a.m. on the Sunday following the end of the course.

DATES OF COURSES
- WINTER SECTION COURSES: (each course will take place only for groups of 3 people minimum) Winter courses will begin on the 20th of October 2002, until the end of April2003
Dates should be directly agreed upon with the organization.

Assistance:
Teacher are present from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m., and from 2:00p.m. till 5:00 p.m. On Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m.
Moreover, one way work outside of the above-mentioned hours without the teacher's presence.

Teachers
Sculptor Boutros Romhein, sculptor Lutfi Romhein, based on the varied educational necessities professional sculptors and free-lance professionals specialized in various sculptural techniques.

Equipment:
For manual workmanship, tools will be provided by the studio.
For workmanship with mechanical tools: the studio will provide air hammers and electric-mechanical hammers, chisels are excluded.
For other mechanical equipment, such as disk-cutting machines, each individual will provide them at his/her awn care or they can be procured in the area.
In case a student would like to utilize own tools, if considered adequate he/she may do so.
-All equipment conceded for use by the studio conforms to current regulations.
- The equipment granted for use cannot be handed over or used by third parties.
- The user will be informed beforehand about the correct usage and maintenance of each tool present in the studio and given for use.

Material:
A sufficient amount will be made available by the studio for practicing during the entire course, included in the course's cost.
For marble, in particular, an assortment of small regular and irregular block of maximum +- 50 kilos.
-Upon request, we can provide marble or other stones cut to size, upon estimate of expenses.
-Students may keep their final work of art.
